Meet The Designer - Jerry McKay

Jerry McKay is owner and president of McKay Landscape Lighting and the primary lighting designer for the company. He is a native of Omaha, Nebraska and a graduate of Creighton Prep. He got his BS degree from Seattle University and while there, met and married his wife, Cheryl.

In 1987, the McKays returned to Omaha and began a lawn care service that slowly evolved into a landscape lighting company. The business officially re-launched in 1992 as McKay Landscape Lighting.

Since that time, the company has grown into a regional market leader and one of the area’s only dedicated outdoor lighting firms. The company serves both the residential and commercial markets, offers low-voltage security lighting as well as landscape and exterior lighting, and has completed lighting assignments all over the country.

"Initially, most of our customers probably see us simply as landscape lighters," McKay says. "However, by the time we leave they realize that what we actually provide is peace of mind and pride of place. They tell us that their investment in our lighting has been 'worth every penny,' and we know that they mean it because the majority of our new business comes from customer referrals."

Jerry and Cheryl continue to reside in Omaha along with their two children, Connor and Claire.
