McKay Landscape Lighting recently completed a commercial outdoor lighting design at Duchesne Academy of the Sacred Heart in Omaha, Nebraska. The historic school building is five stories high and required unique fixtures to properly illuminate all of its architectural features.
Before installing the low-voltage landscape lighting, the McKay team worked with a local electric company to change the existing high-voltage lights to LED, which eliminated 2,926 watts.

The fixture can be installed several ways - into mulch or lawn (as shown on the left), surrounded by a concrete slab (middle), or mounted on the building (right). The concrete slab makes lawn and ground maintenance a little easier.
The low-voltage outdoor lighting design includes 185 LED fixtures around the campus and 265 LED bistro light bulbs above the patio area. After the removal of the 2,926 high-voltage watts, the low-voltage lighting added back only 1,800 watts. These exterior lighting improvements helped Duchesne Academy lower its overall energy consumption by 1,126 watts, contributing to $435 in annual savings.
