With more than 30 years of outdoor lighting experience, our team helps homeowners and businesses improve the beauty, safety, security, and functionality of their properties after dark.

Common Landscape Lighting Problems We Solve
Before McKay Landscape Lighting
…see the difference McKay makes!
Outdated Landscape Lighting Systems
Many older landscape lighting systems use outdated technology, inefficient fixtures, or deteriorated wiring. If your system no longer provides the look or performance you want, McKay can upgrade it with modern LED landscape lighting solutions that improve efficiency, reliability, and appearance.
Low-Quality Fixtures That Fail Too Soon
Not all outdoor lighting fixtures are built to withstand Nebraska’s harsh weather conditions.
Many aluminum or composite fixtures can crack, corrode, discolor, or fail after only a few years. At McKay Lighting, we install premium brass and copper fixtures designed for long-term durability. Most of our fixtures are backed by a lifetime warranty for added peace of mind.
Difficulty Finding Landscape Lighting Service
One of the most common frustrations we hear is:
“The company that installed my lights won’t return my calls.”
Many contractors install landscape lighting as a side service but don’t provide long-term support. Because landscape lighting is our specialty, we offer ongoing service and maintenance to keep your McKay outdoor lighting system operating at its best year after year.
What to Look for in a Professional Landscape Lighting Company
1. A Dedicated Outdoor Lighting Specialist
Landscape lighting requires expertise that goes beyond basic landscaping.
While many landscape companies offer lighting installations, few specialize exclusively in outdoor lighting design and service. A lighting specialist understands beam spreads, fixture placement, voltage management, nighttime aesthetics, and long-term system performance.
At McKay, outdoor lighting is what we do. Our team includes dedicated designers, installers, and service technicians who guide you through every phase of your project—from your complimentary consultation to installation and ongoing maintenance.
2. A Customized Lighting Design and Detailed Proposal
Every property is unique.
Cookie-cutter lighting plans rarely showcase the best features of your home or commercial property. A professional lighting design should be customized around your architecture, landscaping, outdoor living areas, and personal goals.
McKay creates detailed proposals that include:
- Customized lighting recommendations
- Fixture options
- Project timelines
- Phased installation options
- Long-term expansion opportunities
Whether you want to highlight a garden, pool, patio, deck, dock, sculpture, monument, or architectural feature, we create lighting designs tailored specifically to your property.
3. High-Quality Fixtures Built for Nebraska Weather
Landscape lighting systems must withstand:
- Extreme summer heat
- Freezing winter temperatures
- Moisture and snow
- Lawn maintenance equipment
- Daily wear and tear
That’s why we use professional-grade brass and copper fixtures designed for decades of performance. During your consultation, ask to see a fixture sample—you’ll immediately notice the difference in quality, weight, and craftsmanship.
4. Ongoing Landscape Lighting Maintenance
Even the highest-quality outdoor lighting systems require routine maintenance.
Over time, weather conditions, landscaping growth, wiring issues, and normal wear can impact system performance.
McKay offers:
- Landscape lighting repairs for McKay installed systems
- System troubleshooting
- Fixture replacements
- LED upgrades
- Annual maintenance plans
Our preventative maintenance programs help ensure your lighting investment continues to perform beautifully throughout every season.
5. Proven Results and Customer Reviews
Before hiring a landscape lighting company, review their project portfolio and customer testimonials.
A reputable company should be able to provide:
- High-quality nighttime photography
- Examples of completed projects
- Customer reviews
- Local references
- Properties you can view after dark
McKay Lighting proudly showcases residential and commercial landscape lighting projects throughout Omaha, Lincoln, and communities across the country.
Benefits of Professional Low-Voltage Landscape Lighting
A professionally designed landscape lighting system can:
- Increase curb appeal
- Enhance outdoor living spaces
- Improve safety for family and guests
