When new homebuilders contacted AJ Coleman, outdoor lighting designer, they were looking to forgo the traditional coach lights for their home. Knowing they wanted quality fixtures to light the columns of their garage for safety and security at night. The best solution was to install water resistant copper well lights at the base of each column on and around the garage thus giving them a clean and aesthetically pleasing look. The well lights were put into place as the concrete was being poured.
The home, built by Ken Oster Homes, has a gorgeous turret feature which was barely noticeable from the street during the evenings. Cascade lights softly highlight this feature and the stonework, making it more prominent after hours. Path lights were installed around the walkways, and up lights used to accent the stonework of the home.
If possible, it is always best to light your property to increase the security all around your home - leaving no dark spots. High voltage lighting was previously installed around the pool and pool house. A mixture of low-voltage landscape lighting fixtures were installed around the outdoor space to create a cohesive lighting design that ties all the light together. The cascade and path lights increase the safety around the steps and walkways, while the up lights at the base of each column to softly accent the aesthetic features and stonework of the home.
Down lighting from a tree creates a natural and unique evening environment, and it is a preferred option for high traffic areas and walkways. There are two down lights in the mature oak tree - one shines down on the water feature on the opposite side of the sidewalk and the other makes it easy to see the changes in elevation, increasing safety at night. The added light makes for the perfect space to read a book or newspaper while the kids play in the pool.
The home has all LED lighting and is set up to be controlled from your mobile phone or tablet.
