Snow in April?! Hopefully, this is the last weekend we’ll see snow in the forecast until next year. In anticipation of Omaha’s warm days ahead, we wanted to share a few ideas to enhance your landscape lighting design.
Spring Landscape Lighting Maintenance:
Outdoor lighting requires periodic maintenance to keep it looking and performing its best. If you haven’t serviced your lighting system in a while, a thorough “spring cleaning,” can make a difference to the look and performance of your system.
Overtime plant growth and debris affect the visibility of light, bulbs tend to diminish in brightness over the life of the bulb, and using the wrong bulbs can negatively impact your entire system.
Our service team created this spring landscape lighting maintenance checklist last year. It includes a few things to look for after the harsh winter months and some routine checks they complete for those enrolled in one of our maintenance programs.

- Replace ALL halogen bulbs or inspect and replace any faulty LED bulbs
- Reset timers, inspect photocells and transformers

Not only that, switching to LED can enhance the brightness and performance of your system. As you can see in the before and after photo above switching to LED gave this residential property a more enhanced look.
Lighting Design Adjustments for Major Renovations:
During a home or landscape renovation, it’s easy to forget about how these changes might impact your lighting design. Small changes usually won’t affect it very much, but major renovations could leave some obvious dark areas. Depending on the scope and size of the project, it could be something as simple as moving, adjusting, or adding a few lights.
